E-flute corrugated cardboard boxes

Our cardboard boxes at Labelprint24 are made of the environmentally friendly material "corrugated cardboard". Corrugated cardboard is produced during paper processing. Paper gets good durability when it is "corrugated" or fluted. Therefore, corrugated board is made by gluing together at least one smooth and one corrugated paper web. A smooth paper web and a corrugated paper web make a single-sided glued corrugated board. If the flute has a smooth paper web as both top and bottom, it is single wall corrugated board. Flutes can also be combined with each other, which results in, for example, double-flute or triple-flute corrugated board. One flute can be produced in different dimensions. This also results in different types of flutes. The type of flute is determined by the flute pitch (t) and the flute height (h). There are very different types of flute, at Labelprint24 we offer you for example the E-, B- and EB-flute.

Characteristics of the E-flute

The E-wave is also referred to as a fine wave or microwave. It has a flute pitch of 2.6 to 3.5 millimetres and a flute height of 1.0 to 1.9 millimetres. In addition, the E flute can be printed very well and has therefore become the focus of attention for many packaging manufacturers. In addition, the flute type is so popular due to its wide-ranging application in different areas. The E-flute is particularly suitable as sales packaging for high-quality goods.

Advantages of the E-flute

The E-wave is so popular because it has a smooth surface. The closer the flutes are to each other and the smaller the flute height (h), the smoother the outer surface. This is particularly relevant for printing on a carton. A larger wave height and wave pitch deforms the printed image. With the E-flute, however, a very good print image is produced. For product packaging, it is extra important that the logo, name, product information, etc. are easy to read. The intensity of the colours is also emphasised by the smooth surface.

The E-flute in combination

The E flute is also used particularly often in combination with other flute types to produce multi-flute corrugated board. Labelprint24 offers the EB flute for this purpose. This is (as the name already reveals) created from an E and B flute. In a double-flute corrugated board, three smooth and two fluted paper webs alternate, so there are five paper webs in total. The bottom and top of the corrugated board is made of the E flute so that a good print image can still be produced.
